During regular, pre-renewal, or post-renewal discussion with members, I will discuss the broader risk management and WorkCare services that LGIS offers as part of your Scheme membership.
As such, I was recently speaking with a member about the services available, like contract reviews and liability risk assessments. The member provided two contracts for me to review, and while doing so I noticed they would be agreeing to terms and conditions that were not protected by the Scheme.
I suggested we deliver a contract and risk training workshop to key personnel to avoid unnecessary risks and to raise awareness of the conditions before signing future contracts.
In addition, I also suggested we meet with the Executive team to present our full range of services and how we can support the member with their broader strategic plans. During this meeting, we learnt the member had upcoming capital works projects and that they had some concerns regarding the contractor’s insurance cover. We offered an alternate option through the public sector construction facility, and arranged a principal controlled contract works policy.
We were then able to further assist by organising a LGIS risk coordinator to carry out various liability risk assessments on their current assets (e.g. waste treatment facility or waterways/dams).
