“The LGIS member services team comprises of five dedicated account managers with a portfolio of members. This means each member has one account manager – so you know who you’re speaking to and we know your organisation.

Whilst our titles are account manager, I see our role as being strategic relationship managers and the conduit between our member and the broader LGIS team and vice versa.

The LGIS member services team comprises of five dedicated account managers with a portfolio of members. This means each member has one account manager – so you know who you’re speaking to and we know your organisation.

Whilst our titles are account manager, I see our role as being strategic relationship managers and the conduit between our member and the broader LGIS team and vice versa.

With that said, our roles are primarily aimed at:

  • Relationship management
  • Developing and implementing member engagement plans
  • Managing and assisting the annual renewal of Scheme membership and non-Scheme covers
  • Ad-hoc placement of non-Scheme covers such as principal controlled contract works and LCIS insurance solutions
    to our members
  • Daily servicing requirements such as protecting newly acquired or hired in assets, assisting with claim enquiries, guiding members on how and where to lodge a claim, or simply connecting them with our claim colleagues
  • Reviewing and providing advice on contracts and procurement tenders on the associated clauses and conditions
  • Presenting on topical issues such as the impending WHS legislation and their Scheme protection
  • We are always looking to provide the best support to our members – ensuring you’re protected and aware. The following scenario provides some insight into the support we can offer.

Protecting against the evolving threat of hacking

Cybercrime is by no means new. But now, attackers are getting even more sophisticated – targeting operational technology (OT) infrastructure. From tampering with production lines to meddling with water treatment plans, these attacks can have grave consequences.

During regular, pre-renewal, or post-renewal discussion with members, I will discuss the broader risk management and WorkCare services that LGIS offers as part of your Scheme membership.
As such, I was recently speaking with a member about the services available, like contract reviews and liability risk assessments. The member provided two contracts for me to review, and while doing so I noticed they would be agreeing to terms and conditions that were not protected by the Scheme.

I suggested we deliver a contract and risk training workshop to key personnel to avoid unnecessary risks and to raise awareness of  the conditions before signing future contracts.

In addition, I also suggested we meet with the Executive team to present our full range of services and how we can support the member with their broader strategic plans. During this meeting, we learnt the member had upcoming capital works projects and that they had some concerns regarding the contractor’s insurance cover. We offered an alternate option through the public sector construction facility, and arranged a principal controlled contract works policy.

We were then able to further assist by organising a LGIS risk coordinator to carry out various liability risk assessments on their current assets (e.g. waste treatment facility or waterways/dams).

From there, we implemented a member engagement plan, supporting the member by:

  • Introducing a principal controlled contract works policy
  • Delivering contract risk workshops
  • Conducting multiple liability risk assessments across two sites
  • Delivering OSH support and training to managers
  • Facilitating and delivering a strategic risk framework workshop to the executives

The very nature of local government organisations means there’s always variety – and it’s safe to say every day offers something different.
We remain focussed on you – our members – and ensuring you’re supported. “
